February 28-March 8 2026
Gardens aren’t just made; they’re passed down through generations, carried across oceans, lifetimes, and lands. The 2026 PHS Philadelphia Flower Show celebrates the stories that ground us in gardening, whether it’s the nostalgia of a grandparent’s garden, a beloved family recipe that begins with the bright scent of freshly picked herbs and vegetables, or the heritage traditions that shape how we plant, grow, and gather. Through immersive garden exhibits and stunning floral displays, Rooted: Origins of American Gardening, brings to life the personal stories, cultural traditions, and horticultural inspiration that connect us to plants, each other, and shape how we garden today.
As Philadelphia celebrates the 250th anniversary of American independence, the 2026 Flower Show offers a chance to reflect on the gardening legacies we’ve inherited and the ones we’re growing for the future, shaped by people and plants from around the world. This year’s Show will combine legacy and belonging with breathtaking artistry and larger-than-life creations that will take guests on a journey through a vivid world full of memory and magnificence.

Rooted in Love explores the shared language of horticulture and Shakespeare, one grounded in soil, the other in words; both deeply rooted in history, tradition, and symbolism. This exhibit draws inspiration from the writer’s enduring relationship with the natural world, where gardens, flowers, and roots serve as metaphor, messenger, and stage for human experience.Rooted in Love invites visitors to explore how horticulture and Shakespeare share a common language of roots, growth, and renewal. Inspired by Romeo and Juliet, this exhibit unfolds like a living stage, where flowers embody lineage, conflict, healing, and hope, revealing how deeply human stories are rooted in the natural world.
We oftentimes think of plants as being sedentary, bound by their roots, but when we take a closer look, we notice that they are in constant motion; unfurling their fronds, elongating their stems, and grooving and moving to reach the sunlight. Plants are living and breathing just like you and me! We can perceive light, scent, touch and sound, just like our chlorophyl loving companions.
Movement is needed to survive and when used as a form of therapy through dance, color, music… it can help us thrive!
Come together with our floral friends on the dance floor as you too can Bloom to the rhythm with the harmonious colors, music and flowers.
